ABOUT THE ROSE PROGRAM
At Freedom Farm For Vets we believe in the power of compassion and flowers. We plant and cultivate roses both in memory of the lives of veterans who have passed on and in honor of living veterans and active military members.
Every Sunday year round, we deliver roses from our Memorial Rose Garden to the patients at our local VA hospital, James A Lovell in North Chicago. In addition to the roses, during the holidays the veterans get a little something extra to brighten their day:
In October, we also deliver small pumpkins for Halloween that children have decorated from our Fall Festival.
November, we deliver hand made cards for Veteran’s Day made by our local school children.
In December, we deliver hand made, hand decorated ornaments for Christmas.
February, we deliver hand made cards for Valentine’s Day made by our local school children.
We have found that when volunteers visit with the veteran, their compassion helps heal the spirit and nourish the soul. We are always looking for more volunteers to help with delivery, please contact us via email or phone if you are interested in helping with the program.

These roses have been beautiful this year! I have had the honor of delivering them to the veterans that are/have been in the VA hospital this summer and I have really enjoyed meeting all of them. Some of them have no visitors and some visitors I have had the pleasure of meeting in the rooms as I deliver the roses. As my uncles had raised roses when they returned form the service, I have met other veterans who have done the same. I invite you all to come to the farm and see how these memorials live on and beautify the entrance to the farm. We invite all of you to enjoy our garden and roses in memory of your loved and honored Veterans.
